queensland NPD doubles on bass

Trolled down the dam for not a single touch this morning,caught several bass and catties on shrimp, then trolled home picking up 5 bass and a 50cm yella. Ended up with over 20 bass, one yella and two catties. Lure caught bass and the yella were on the Gidgee Ripple, also lost a good bass to a feralcat lure that is now hanging off one of the underwater trees, however on the way home managed to find another lure hanging off a low branch at water level.

They are only eating bonys though I imagine they get the odd bass. I like those cold winter mornings when they are working the banks eating the tilapia that are an easy meal for them when they are torpid from the cold. The best lure fishing days I have had recenlty was fishing around the bonys which the big flocks of pelicans are a good signpost to.

Good to see the Gidgee Ripple get some more fish. Their good lures

Pelicans are like the Japanese fishermen with the cormarants, they wait till the cormarants rise with a fish in its mouth and before it gets a chance to swallow it the pelican steels it.

Yes the ripple is doing its job at the moment
