Boggy creek flathead

Went out to boggy creek mouth this morning to have a landbased fish on the tide.

Well I usually throw a livie out while I am spinning lures and this morning I took a 68cm flatty on a live mullet.

It irks me a bit as I was thrashing the area all morning with lures and plastics, with my 1-3 kg rod and didn't get a nudge.

BTW the rod is my old bait rod, it is a Silstar Crystal tip 6 -8kg, paired with an Okuma reel and 18lb mono.

Together the setup cost about $130.00 and I have caught many big flathead and threadfin salmon on it.So you don't need expensive gear to catch a threadie. The flathead didn't stand a chance on the setup as the rod is suited for bigger fish.

Yes Brad, not sure how the tide is but if your in a boat it might be ok.Next time I am at the tackle shop I definitely will be looking at bigger lures, maybe somthing bigger than an sx60, might be worth try some larger size lures.

Cheers
