queensland looking to head out

looking to head out side and chase some mackeral. but have been reading mixed reports about the weather , was wondering if anyone could reccomend somewhere worth giving a shot weather wise, north or south coast

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND

for DAMAGING WIND and LARGE HAILSTONES

For people in parts of the

GOLD COAST CITY and

SCENIC RIM Council Areas.

Issued at 12:34 pm Tuesday, 27 December 2011.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:30 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near the area south of the NSW border.

These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast.

They are forecast to affect Border Ranges National Park by 1:00 pm and the McPherson Range and Lamington National Park by 1:30 pm.

Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:

* Move your car under cover or away from trees.

* Secure loose outdoor items.

* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.

* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.

* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.

* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 1:35 pm.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Capricornia, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Emergency Management Queensland would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

if you really want a fish find an estuary where its safer or just go land based

It was nice early on in the bay then the wind made some lumps, then they went away and everything went pretty smooth, didnt hear of any macks caught tho.

Na Noooooo, spotties today which is a bugga, last week reports they were around the paddocks however weren't there today. We saw a nice longtail school, thats it.

Big swll offshore at the moment I hear. I havnt heard of any big mackrel off brissy yet but carter put a post u last week about Laguna bay in noosa heads, looks kikw the bait is around in big numbers and a few nackeral starting to come on the bite
