Bowenville Reserve

Hi guys, I am going camping with my dad for Australia day. We are going to Oakey creek in Bowenville Reserve. Has anyone here fished there or know anything about the place (What bait and lures work)? Its stocked with yellowbelly, silver perch and murray cod. I know murray cod are seasonal but does anyone know when they are in season?

fished it once a couple of years ago, peeled shrimp the proven winner on yellas,eeltail catties and silvers and of course the dreaded carp.. no sinkers just a float and small hook. all clear to chase the cod, Queensland no season!

I'm taking some shrimp pots with me. What sort of lures or bait is best for cod? I'd love to catch one.

Dino and I had great success with white spinner baits over the border some time ago. We caught and released about 20 cod in 2 sessions. Have pics but can't send them at this time. Tight lines. :cheer: Ian M

I used to buy mine direct from Rod Cockburn when he was making them.

These days you will need a shop to get them from like this one.

Tackle World shops down NSW stock them so maybe worth a check up here to see if they also stock them.

They are not the cheapest lure around but definitely worth every penny.
