Hey everyone.

Went to straddy for teh weekend to check out the folks new pad. Its awesome.

More importantly its a short stroll to one of my favourite fishing spots ever.

Dune Rocks.

I spent a couple of hours each day fishing it and had great sessions.

Usually i would use a surf rod down there, however due to the amazing weather i decided to give my lighter gear a go.

I got lots of small bream and dart, but my stand out catches were 15 bream 34cm and over. Smallest was obviously 34cm and the largest was 37 1/2 (all measurements to the fork).

This goes down as my best bream session for both numbers and size :)

All fish caught on 8lb braid with a 10lb leader, Shimano 25000 Twin Power, Starlo Stick and 4'' Pumpkin Seed Gulps.

Ill let the pictures tell the rest.

Gutter/Lagoons with rocks like this produced most of the fish.

This guy bagged this snapper by spear only meters from the shore :)

Dad lost a few and caught a couple of choppas.

We actually both dropped an amazing number of fish. We would easily get 3 runs for every landed fish. I dont know what the go was, they would be on for a good 10 secs but then just spit the hook. Decent fish as well.

Feral: I took a couple of pics ill get them up in teh shop ASAP. My home computer is on Dial up speed at the moment so anything takes ages.

Tim: Mate tried dunwich at dawn for one estuary cod. Tried everything i knew, and what you told me, but could not raise a hit from a trev.

Ellicate: Dam right about them hitting. These fish gave seriously impressive fights. Lucky bream are not inclined to run into holes or i would not have landed one. Each fish took easily a couple of meters of drag on their first runs.

Cowfish: Hahah, woops. I did of course mean a 2500 :)

Very nice work Angus, one of my favourite spots but last time the swell was around 2 metres , looks like you had absolutely ideal conditions.

Any tailor? maybe they were the ones spitting the hooks?

Usually get a few round there.

Did you try around the headlands or the flinders beach gutters at all?

Good old pumpkinseed gulps..what jighead did you use if you dont mind me asking?

cheers

Joe
