2014 Summer Classic Official Wrap!

What a great event!

80 anglers entered and competed in this years Summer Classic hosted by Davos Tackle World Noosa. Can I say what a pleasure it has been a second year in a row running it with the Davos crew. Each and every staff member chipped in to make sure the event ran smoothly and the crowd entertained.

How good is it when the store owner gets behind the BBQ

It was a privilege to have so many of our sponsors attend the event personally and give away prizes on the water. Adrian Lindsay from Spotters Polarized Sunglasses and Greg Carter from 10% Clothing gave out quite a lot of spot prizes on the water. You Bryce Francis for example scored a pair of Spotters from Adrian for catching this great fish!

It was not just the capture that made this fish epic but the story behind it. Bryce was fighting this fish as his motor died, drifting towards some moored boats Adrian in fact helped tow him out so Bryce could land it. Due to some extremely good manners and appreciation, which impressed Adrian, the prize was awarded.

Our place getters were also all well deserving.

2nd Place: Eli Johns

3rd Place Andrew Boyd

Both Andrew and Eli had some great bags of fish including Flathead, Jacks, Trevally, Whiting and Bream. What pulled them ahead of the crowd however was the willingness to brave the elements and head offshore. The weather was far from ideal but each of these anglers bagged a big pelagic (Mackerel and Tuna respectively) cementing the wins.

Tim Milat's story is all the more impressive for not getting offshore! Tim fished tenaciously for a large number of hours to piece together a massive bag of the available estuary species.

It was also a pleasure to see young Bryce get up again during the lucky door prizes. Bryce won the charter with Andrew Chorley and Hervey Bay Fly & Sports Fishing and you should have seen the smile!

Overall it was a really successful event. Lots of anglers, lots of fish caught, lots of fun had. A massive thanks goes out to all the sponsors who donated such a large range of prizes:

Thanks to everyone again who, came, fished and just supported this event in anyway. It has fast become our favorite and we look forward to next year.

It was an awesome event. Will attend next year. In the mean time I might head up there a couple of times to get to know the system a little better.
