hi all i have recently purchased a quintrex vmax tinnie with a 6hp outboard (2stroke) and it has lost its shine if you guys have any tips or tricks on how to bring that shine back please let me know as well as tips on how to make the lighted marine flooring possible (that’s won’t rot and is relatively strong)

Any of the aluminium polishes ,, to do fuel tanks,, would be

good but you will end up with a sore arm by the time you polish

a complete tinny. When you finish yours come and do mine.

I have never seen the point in polishing a tinny. You might scrub off any mojo it has worked hard to give you. A quick hose down is all it really needs.

Yeah Steve, the salt water will dull the finish first trip out.

I've done it before on tinny's that are badly marked just to get them

presentable and then let them fade naturally.

But that's like polishing wheels just to run thru the mud again.

Rather than polishing you could simply acid wash it to clean the alloy up. 

CT12 Aluminium cleaner is what I have used in the past....looks like it might be discontinued now though.

It was almost the same as Chemtech Blitz Aluminium Cleaner you can get from Autobarn stores currently.

Follow the directions and to not increase the strength.

Leaves the aluminium nice and clean without endless polishing.

Yeah, that CT12 was good stuff.

Used to clean every thing with that, depends how long you leave it on before washing it

off to how clean it got. Was the bees knees for alum fuel tanks.

But has been discontinued for some years, and don't ask me why, probably because it

worked.

Septone "Ali brite". 

Get it all looking clean and then give it 2 coats of "penetrol". 

Stay shiny for years.

Could be an old wives tail but i thought that having the aluminium oxidisation layer was a good thing.

Forms a layer preventing full corrosion / pitting of the aluminium?
