Force feeding carp

I was working over the other end of town this morning, but I knew a fairly reliable spot for carp along a bend in the river that way, so I decided to chuck in the bow and try get a shot in if I had time. 

Luckily I had about an hour up my sleeve and managed to get into a couple a 5kg carp. I missed a couple by over shooting but got my eye in for the next two with a couple of spot on shots. 

Now the wife can make her fermented carp dish, not my thing but she absolutely loves the stuff.

That's different, that's actual Fermented, what the wife does in salt and rice like this. 

 

We also do it with pork mice to make sausages and do ribs like it too. Keeping raw fish or pork on a kitchen bench for 3 days to a week might seem like suicide but it's actually bloody beautiful. 

Well the pork is anyway, the fish is a bit strong for me.

Was looking at some tilapia in a knee deep creek across road from me. Got me thinking I could nail them with sling shot or bow like that....

Unfortunately we are not allowed to use bow,spear or net in fresh water here in QLD. We just watch them swim by or catch them on corn.

It should be Australia wide, I can't even have the bow in the car if I want to fish the other side of the river. 

Big pest and they are perfect for bow fishing.

Bugger. Wonder what the logic behind that is ? The net I can understand. But is a bow rated a more potentially dangerous weapon because of its range compared to a Hawaiian sling style spear or spear gun, which are both legal to use 2mins down the road in the salt. Also you can buy bows from BCF at the moment

In NSW a bow with an arrow on a line is classed as a piece of fishing equipment, not as a weapon. 

On a separate note, I had a good run today catching some good carp the conventional way. 

Although I much prefer the bow to the rod when it comes to catching carp.
