Motorguide troubles

Hey guys after a full days use on Saturday I went to use my motorguide again on Sunday and it would not go. It would spin the prop once and that was it (Thank god I had a spare motor) So being under Motorguide warranty (I think) it is now at coorparoo marine as electronics and me don't mix. But it has got me thinking, do electric motors come with some sort of surge protection like a fuse somewhere in them or do people add there own ? I have always been under the assumption that motors come straight out of the box ready to use but now not so sure:unsure:

I add my own, costs about $10-15 bucks, cheap insurance! I use those thermal ones that cut out then reset themselves when they cool down.

Last couple I got from this bloke. Need to get another I broke one changing my batteries

He is at Gumdale, so might even allow pickup.

You can get disposable fuses that size, but they are about $5 each time you blow one!
