time to start doing some cash work i guess:)

these lists leave me in awe!

The next combo i want is probably something 10-17lb rod with 20lb braid and reel suitable for popping and metal lures. time to start researching i guess

Everything of mine is cheap except one combo of a seido 2500FA and berkeley dropshot 1-3kg with 6lb fireline. Big bunch of mixed rods and reels besides that, three alveys of different sizes, beach rods etc

About a dozen quality rods, another dozen or so el cheapo rods (horses for course with kids etc on fishing trips), 2 brand name spinning reels, but mostly ebay stuff which has proved its worth, however I mainly use baitcasters these day except when fishing for bait (bream)

My go to rods are

Bass from the boat

2 x Pflueger Trion 6 foot 2-5kg baitcasters

2 x Daiwa 153ha baitcasters, one left handed one right handed

Bass from the Yak

1 x 7 foot shakespeare graphite rod (cant remember model, I got a pair of them from Dino, but broke one)

1 x Cruxis RH baitcaster

1 x Banix LH Baitcaster

Bigger stuff from the yak, same reels, but use a pair of Tsunami 4-8kg rods

Barra or murray Cod from the boat

1 x 7 foot Egrel for casting

2 x 6 foot Wilson composite rods for trolling, some casting

1 RH Curado

1 LH Scorpion

Basically I like to use a matched pair of rods and reels if casting, one left handed one right handed so I can switch arms, particularly when using big lures.

  • 3 weeks later...

Having only started getting back into fishing this year after 16 years ive had to start over, not just with gear but relearning everthing.

Synergy Light Action 2-4kg 6"6 with Shimano Sienna 2500FB and 8lb line ( cant remember name of the line )

Surecatch Hotspot Medium Action 7" 3-6 kg (Cheap but surpisingly a nice rod, have caught some nice fish on ) has no reel at the moment due to the last one dying

My boys rod

Jarvis Walker medium 3-5 kg 6" Rod and Reel combo, cheap as they get but he's got a 1/2 hour attention span so whatever. Fun to catch fish on tho

These are the ones I use at the moment, nothing terribly flash , but functional.

Bass.

2500 Sustain on a Pflueger Asaro 3-5Kg 7ft.

Chronarch on a Pflueger Trion baitcaster 4-7Kg 6.5ft (spinnerbait setup, and creek bashing out west)

Wild bass

1000 Twinpower on a Loomis GL2 6ft 2-4Kg. ( My beautiful little baby )

Barra

4000 Sustain on a 6-10Kg T curve Power spin.

Chronarch on a 6-10Kg T curve Tournament baitcaster.

And a cupboard full of various reels no longer in service. 5600 Abu's, Bantams etc.

Only have a couple of combos left atm due to selling quite a few off lately.

1) Steez 100HA baitcaster on a Samurai 2-5kg BC rod + 8lb TD Sensor (for bass and yellas etc)

2) Sol 2000 on a DSR820S IMX + 6lb TD Sensor for breamin and creek work

3) Sol 3000 on a DSR822S IMX + 16lb Yamatoyo SW PE for anything i encounter bigger than bream and flattys in the estuaries and light offshore.

Purchasing a new combo soon, most likely a Exist 2004 or Daiwa Certate Finesse 2004 on a samurai 2-4kg or a loomis equivalent. Can't wait to get it!

Usual suspects:

Shimano Twin Power 1000 on a 6'6" Custom built IMX 2-6lbs loaded with 4lbs TD Sensor (Bream-Snapper)

Shimano Stradic 2500 on a 6'6" Daiwa Sol rod loaded with 8lbs Td Sensor (Everything rod)

Shimano Sustain 4000 on a 7' Custom built GL3 loaded with 20lbs Fins (Snapper & Tuna)

Daiwa Steez 100HA on a 6'8" Custom built St Croix SCV loaded with 10lbs Daiwa Tournament line

Shimano Tiagra 80WA on a 5'6" Custom Built Calstar Baja-Boomer, loaded with 100lbs Sufix Tritanium Plus

Okuma T-50W on a 5'6" Okuma Titus 24kg rod, loaded with 60lbs Australian Monofil Co line.

Shimano 4500 Bait Runner on some low-mid range rod. Predominately used for catching my bait.

Another highly used outfit is the 100lbs handline. Frequently used with very small hooks to skull drag big freshwater eels out for baits.

Soon to get (by end of year):

Daiwa Zillion Crazy Crank & Daiwa Zillion HLC for use on a custom built 6'6" 12-20lbs St Croix SCVI Rod. Both will be loaded with 20lbs braid.

Shimano Stella (probably 20000) on a custom built 7' stick, possibly the same as Lee will use (same trip, same builder!). As same with lee, will be using this same reel on a custom built jigging stick.

Daiwa Alphas R to go on a high end stick - undetermined at this stage.

  • 11 months later...

super bored and was looking at what people are using for theyre heavy sticks, thought i may bump this old thread up.

rods:

Berkley Dropshot 7' 2-4kg 1pce been modifyed - use this with large lures or bait

Berkley Dropshot 6'10" 1pc 2-4kg modifyed butt and tip - love the action of this rod

Shimano Catana Soft plastics spin 2-4kg - got this for 40 bucks from anaconda!

Daiwa Infeet 6'8" 1-3kg - wicked rod

Gloomis GL2 6' 2-4kg spin jig rod - very stiff pulls big fish easily

Blackdiamond 7' 1-3kg flats ranger

Blackdiamond 6' 2-4kg clearcut

reels:

sienna 1000 - 4lbs fireline

stradic ci4 - 4lbs castaway

symetre 1000 x2 - both 4lbs fireline

twin power 1000 - 4lbs td sensor

procaster 2000 - 6lbs fireline - first reel i bought now clunky but still works

stradic 2000 - 8lbs fireline - use mainly for bait or tailor lures

next purchases will be afew reel services then a daiwa sol in ither 2000 or 2500 and most likely a Gloomis imx of some discription (likely a IMX 842 or a dropshot), a heavy baitcaster outfit running 20lbs braid on a 10-20lbs rod that is 6'6" - 7' possibly some form of IMX loomis or might even try a gold carrot stix, reel would most likely be a zillion gold spool or crazy cranker still got to shop around though
