Hey all,

Just trying to get some sweet tips on the best bait and or lures/plastics to use in the local rivers around ipswich (colleges, kookaburra, pine mtn, wivenhoe etc.) I have previously used the basic baits (prawns, chook gut, pillies) and really only caught a 1000 catfish. Any advice would be awesome!

Mate, anywhere up from colleges to wivenhoe dam should be awesome for bass when the closed season finishes... If you have a boat, you could launch at Goodna ramp, head to kooka park and fish for bream. Plenty there atm and prawns will work fine. There is a lot of dud spots in the river that you will only catch catties, so you really have to keep trying new spots... It's hard too explain were to head around kooka, but if you head upstream from kooka towards colleges you will start getting the bream. The catties are less active aswell. B)
