Hey all,

My son & I spent Monday 25-06-07 out at Harry A Reef with a pretty good result. 1 Bream, 3 Squire, plus a few exciting bite-offs to get the heart pumping. Used squid & pillies with posative results on both. Despite the few lite showers about it was a great afternoon. We were the only boat there for most of the time.

Good effort and a good start to the school break. Looks like a tasty feed at your place too.

Do you reckon they were snapper bustoffs ?

Either Snapper, or big Cod or Sweetlip. We fish there often with average to good results and we catch a few cod and sweetlip. One Cod was 45cm or so, so they can be pretty decent.

How long does it take to get there mate and where do you launch from. Wondering if i could make the venture in the 4.2m tinnie with i think i got a 20-25L tank.

Hi Oceandonkey,

I use to go out there in a 4.2 dory heaps. It had a 30ph 4 stroke and used about 1/2 a 25litre tank to go out & back with a heap of trolling as well. I carried a 10 litre spare just in case. Launched the boat from Fishermans Island and went out past Green Island and dropped a few plastics in on the East side of Green either on the way out or the way back usually resulting in a few good Finguremark & Cod.

We lauch from Wellington Pt and just keep going out for 20mins or so. On a weekend, it is hard to miss as there can be 50 boats or so stuffed into an area the size of 2 footy fields.

What size and type of engine do you have?

persist i dont want to sound like i'm paying you out or whatever but r u sure they were fingermark. just asking as there is a heap of moses perch out there and i'm still to catch a fingermark in moreton bay.

Hmm i might give it a go this weekend and go for a strap, never taken the boat any further across the bay than behind green.
