"The LNP will spend $120m on dredging and marine infrastructure across the state to boost boating and recreational waterways, including $30m for the Gold Coast, $40m to dredge Trinity Inlet near Cairns and $50m for boat ramps, artificial reefs, fishing pontoons and deepening channels."

The LNP will act to ensure Gold Coast waterways are properly managed for the benefit of locals, boaties, fishers, and tourists in a sustainable and environmentally sensitive manner.

We recognise Gold Coast waterways are vital to the region's economy and marine industry.

In contrast, Labor would rather do a preference deal with the Greens, than address local Gold Coast residents' concerns over the quality of and access to their waterways.

An LNP Government will invest $30 million to address the neglect of the Gold Coast Broadwater and nearby Waterways to ensure the people of the region can once again properly enjoy this great natural asset.

The LNP is committed to long-term planning for our communities and families and will therefore immediately re-establish a Gold Coast Waterways Authority to guide future day-to-day operation and maintenance

of this great natural asset.

We will give the Broadwater back to the people of the Gold Coast, making it a hub of recreational and tourist activity once again.

Better than the current situation....I wonder what time frame this will be implemented by.....2020?

The LNPs going well down the coast, 2 appointed candidates for Broadwater disendorsed,1 for drink driving and 1 for playing pirate at a swingers party, and now a coast candidate who,1st said he didn`t have a net site with porn on it,2nd he said it was a mistake from when he was young and silly, and latest was it was his car club site and others posted the porn on it.

As for the coast waterways promise, they say the states broke, where is this lot coming from.. ???

Bit of a shame they did not keep the pirate,he had an interesting way to canvas the electorate..

The LNP's shadow fisheries minister got a lot of help to get in from fishermen last election so there might be a few thank you's come through if they win office. Unlike labors thank you's to the greens ala green zones for moreton bay.

There is always talk of a cruise terminal down the coast, could be part of that dredging? maybe

Not sure why everyone is so cynical. This is great!! I don't see Labor out doing or promising anything for waterways, recreational boaties and fishermen. Obviously the first step is at least getting a party to recognise this as an issue and making the promise and the LNP have committed to this if they win office and I have no doubt this will happen.

I guess everyone is a bit sceptical of politicians making promises because since 1998 we have had a Labor government in power that continually have broken their promises. I guess the other option is we can just stay on our current course of rubbish boat ramps and persecution against us fishermen/boaties and make everything marine parks.....

Not sure why everyone is so cynical. This is great!! .....

about 24 years ago, the last time a L&N coalition held government for a period of time,a number of them ended up in jail along with their police commissioner, the rogueish ex minister of everything died before they got him into court, the ex premiers` trial jury was loaded with ring-ins.

These characters were followed by a Labor government that virtually accomplished nothing except for their 'reforms' that stifled any form of effective administration they touched.Labor political advisor to the premier,Kevin Rudd razored the Wolfdene Dam,. They were not in bed with the greens of the day,and the greens of the day were concerned for the koalas, they felt koalas should have multi million$$ under road crossings, which didn`t help anyone

This was followed by 3 years of another L&N coalition government, which was immediately tossed out at the very next election,They were there for such a short time that even the old Qld Nationals ask "Who was Borbidge" and this bunch were followed by what we have today.

Now todays choices are first class:

You can have Bligh and Co. or you can have Cando and Co.

Funny thing about Candos` Co is the fact that among all their parlimentarians not one of them (including the vast number of ex leaders that stayed in opposition) were considered as real leadership material to go to the election with,so in came Cando (but he`s not really in,is he. no one has voted him in yet, and it`s looking a bit rickety if he will be voted in). So if Cando doesn`t gain a seat in parliament, and the LNP wins government we will be governed by people whose own party think are useless.

So really… Me cynical naaah… like all other Qlders, I enjoy being treated with distain by the duly elected, lying, self indulgent governments of the day

Edit for Dino.. since this lot of Labor have been in power an ex minister Nuttal has been jailed for coruption and an ex labor parliamentarian jailed for relations with an underage teenage girl.

Fixed your dodgy maths up Gad :P

No brainer this election. Shame LNP have done the 07 fed ALP trick and hired a popular head to lead them, but as long as the ALP keeps sleeping with the Greens they will keep waking up with pus-green sores imo. A decent Independent might be the go at State level.
