Gday guys

I thought I would make this thread, seeing as dad and I have been decking out my stacer proline 399 the last few weeks, and its getting close to finished. The idea was to set it up for tournament fishing next year.

It wasnt looking in top shape around 2 months ago, with the steering sizeing up, and I had never liked the centre console, so decided to rip it out, along with all the carpet and old framing, so that we could start fresh.. B), and make a bigger front deck, with hatches for fuel tanks, battery, leccy battery, underdeck livewell in mind.

Pic of how it was looking for awhile...

Took a bit to get everything out, with all the old rusty screws and that, but got there in the end, and was time to start the framing with the ally...

First, we put the basic frame in on both the front and back deck, and would do all the downward bracings later.. We put the frame together with both stainless steel screws and then pop rivets for extra strength.

The next step was to seal up all the 18mm structural ply that we used. We then cut out the 18mm structural ply to fit each section of the decking. After that, it was a matter of coating the ply 3 times either side, to seal it all off. B)

Starting to take some shape.

Next was to cut all the hatches to fit. Took a bit of playing around, as we wanted to leave enough room for everything to fit, for when the carpet went on.

Ready for carpeting

Last couple days, dad and I have been doing a bit here and there on the boat, mainly at night, and have finally gotten all the carpet on, ready to screw down everything and attach hinges. We attached the carpet with quick grip to start with then used staples around the edges.

Tomorrow we will attach all the hinges and screw everything down, then all thats needed to do is sort some wiring and some things with the motor and everything is good to go. Livewell is soon to go in, and then all I need is a leccy as soon as I can afford one. Will update this post when we finish it. Big thanks must go to Wes, Bri and a few others in helping me out with materials and ideas. :)

Cheers

Dan

Yeah Wayno, the boat was very stable with the old decks. Hopefully rising the decks hasn't made a huge differece. Should be fine, will soon find out anyway..

Yesterday screwed down all the ply, and attached hinges etc to the hatches. Just need to sort all the wiring now. Due to it being made into a side console originally, it used to have a metal rod/steering cable going through a part of the motor to allow for it to turn. Because we are using it as a till steer from now, I have seen other boats and they have nothing through the centre, and just have a cap either end. We tried taking it out, but have just cut either end for now, does anyone know the best way to get it out? Ive attached a pic of it, so you can see.

  • 2 weeks later...

Finished it week ago now, and have taken it out to Mud in pretty choppy conditions and the goldy canals in minibucks last saturday which was awesome to fish from out of the boat. Pretty stoked with how it turned out to be honest, awesome fishing platform now, very stable and makes life a lot easier. Still hoots along alright, just takes a little longer to get on the plane, with two of us in the boat. Have vertical rod holders attached to the side, as well as new seats, and installed key start, wired up all lighting, sounder, new anchor light, and attached leccy. Have ordered rod buckles from the states to strap them down to the front deck, and plan on fitting an under-deck livewell in the big hatch, and getting it professionally plumbed.

Taken months off and on now, but finally ready and its been awesome working on it with dad, learning heaps along the way... :) A lot of work, but easy if you take your time and try get everything as good as you can get. B) Ive added a pic of how it did look... and now.. lol

great work there dan.one thing you better make your anchor light higher or you might get a fine from the law .it is suppost to be higher than you when you stand up in the boat ;) al

Its actually just 1m above the sidelights. This is taken from the Maritime website.

An all-round white light shows over a nominal arc of the horizon of 360°. The light fitting must be located at least one metre above the sidelights; and should as far as practicable, be on the centreline of the boat. As a general rule, an all round white light should not be obscured by masts or other structures by more than 6° of arc. If that’s not possible, or the light would shine into the operator’s eyes, a masthead light in combination with a stern light is an alternative to an all round white light.
