queensland Braving the Rain @ NP

Needed a fishing fix and despite my wife saying I had a death wish to go out in that weather, we battled on cos we needed that fishin fix. My mate managed 3 bass and I got 6. The best was close to 45cm but they were all a respectable size.

8 were caught on spinnerbait and one on plastic.

The first photo is of the first fish caught and the second photo is 4 caught in rapid succession and all were released.

Was going to keep a feed but thought they could live to be caught another day.

They were caught at forgan, in the hole near the point.

well dino all i can say is that you are verry brave not a bad session too well if you couldnt get any in the rain and wind no one could great work once again dino

Deep hole is the one opp the island.

Ray I had to walk up the bank a bit to take photo so as not to damage fish, dont see much green stuff these days.

Whatnow I said i caught them in quick succession not all at once.

Dino, I got two around 42,43cm at Mcgavin on Wednesday in the rain. I was only there 45 minutes - to cold! Thursday, the dam looked more like the ocean - with all the waves rippling across it. Gave it a miss that day.

Well done any fish is a bonus at the moment. The schools of bass are breaking up now and going back to thier normal habits of keeping on the move, looking for food.

I think its time to put the slugs away for a spell [although you might pick up some small schools with them ] and move back onto SPs,spinnerbaits and small hardbodies. It becomes a game of hunting down the moveing fish. Oh what fun, bring it on.

i hate shorebased dam fishing its called dam for a reason frikkin mud

The mud was a bit sticky in places Stu. By the way heard on the fishing show this am that those nice fat MacDonald bass are going over the wall. Its enough to make you cry.

Hope a few of them remain for our next trip up that way.
