Snapper Galore

Yesterday I went for a fish offshore with Mark (Tugger) chasing a few Snapper.

We headed to the 33's first up to see what was there.

The place was loaded with Snapper and we bagged out in 2 drifts.

We then went and had a quick look for some Dolphin Fish and there was heaps around so we grabbed 4 for a feed and then headed down to Boat Rock to chase a few different reefies.

It was very interesting to see Wahoo swimming around out there this time of the year.

The water was not too good down there with very little current and the fishing was extremely slow with a ton of under size Snapper to annoy us.

We caught one legal Moses Perch and lost some unstoppables so at midday we decided to call it quits and head home with a nice feed in the box.

The seas were near glassed out with whales everywhere to make for a lovely trip home to end another great day at sea.

Thanks Mark for another top days fishing.

They are great eating Wayne but they do need to be prepped properly.

They have to be bled and iced, preferably into a slurry as soon as they are caught otherwise they can go very soft and mushy.

They also do not freeze very well so they are best eaten fresh.

They are also very popular eaten raw.

School holidays around the corner now Kelvin and a great time of year to chase the snapper out there will you have plenty of spare days to have a crack

Nice box of fish there fellas, well done. Nice size on those dollies, were most of the ones swimming around about that size? Really need to get out there and will definitely try for the dollies as well for now on now that it is warming up.

My brother from Rocky (who had the boat prior to it coming down here) is down for the first week of the hols so will hopefully get him out once or twice (failing that will at least go to Harries). We are up in Noosa from the Thursday of the first week til the Tuesday of the 2nd week for a wedding (packing the surf rods in hope of some tailor action .....) so will hopefully get out during the 2nd week as well. You off work on the school hols Mark?
