Shellfish Filtration Display Today At Bcf Tingalpa

A great image and thought provoking.

The average filter feeder can process upwards of 5 litres a day as an individual in its ecosystem. When you multiply that by the thousands that are there you can see how a bay with a very healthy population of shellfish can clean itself up remarkably quickly - if they are left alone, not predated or interfered with etc.

Cheers to BCF for the initiative - (did I just praise BCF? where's the stick....)

Hi @Anglen.  BCF are a generous sponsor of OzFish Unlimited. OzFish then help support lots of projects around Australia to improve and protect habitat. The shellfish restoration project in Moreton Bay is being undertaken by OzFish Moreton Bay Chapter which is @Drop Bear and his band of merry men and women. You can see more here https://www.ozfishmoretonbay.org/. We have a fishing competition and seafood festival at Wynnum on the May long weekend. You should enter. Or maybe just buy a few raffle tickets to show support. Thanks for your interest and encouraging words.

Yep they are pretty cool. Reports show that adult rock oysters can filter over 100 ltrs per day. They are pretty awesome.
