queensland Coochin Land Based

Hi all, new member.. 

just after some info on coochin creek land based. Taking my 6 yr old up Thursday with his mate so won’t be taking the boat. 

Are there any options land based other than the boat ramp near the camp grounds were I can have my Ute parked with us for shade?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions where to take these kids for a fish/ bbq with Ute access

Hey James, Welcome to the forum.

Sorry, I don't know Coochin at all. When my lads were little I used to take them to Ningi just before the bridge and fish for whiting/bream off the beach. They had a bit of area to run around if things were quiet.

There’s spots a bit further downstream at coochin, head to the actual boat ramp (not the campground) but don’t turn off into the boat ramp. Keep going past the turn off down the dirt track, look on your right and there’s some spots you can drive right up to. Haven’t fished land based there personally but have gone past on kayak heading for other spots. Often people having a go there.

Hey James,

Welcome to the forum. 

I spent a bit of time on Coochni with Steve Irwin and fished it a fair bit. We didn't have much success however. I'm sure if you were more patient and less busy you will do better than I did. 

There are lots of land based options on the drive in. I think they are pretty well known... I once caught a whole crab pot full of empty beer cans...

Welcome to the forum - hopefully you'll be able to dig up some information on Coochin using the search function on the top right hand side.
