Recently returned from an epic trip to Cape Melville 

 

here’s a quick summary for anyone interested

I can only imagine how good a trip that would be. Paradise with all the fun stuff.

I bet someone will be getting a boat cover before the next trip.

Nice video @Fishaman. That dust, especially that red dust gets into everything. The trips I have been on, we always put heaps of cling wrap around the inlets and outlets of the outboard and secured it with gaffer tape. We were convinced we were doing the right thing, but who knows.

Did you end up fishing any of the rivers there, or just offshore?

The motor and leccy were 100% wrapped up so only cosmetic issues for boat.

 

we had a **** load of wind so managed only two days offshore the rest was creeks however it wasn’t mind blowing as far as action went. The journey in and out was a real adventure.

Looks like a great trip. Was talking to a mate from Cooktown the other day and he said the access to Cape Melville has been closed. 

Which is a shame, amazing spot.

wow, I wonder why they did that? Usually it’s open til December and shuts for the wet.

Hmmm... update. Seems park is closed for feral animal control until end of November then it’s shut for wet season.
