queensland NPD 6/1/21

According to some of the experts on FB Rick,Stew,and I had another boring day at NPD yesterday.

.With a 5.40 launch and after doing our shrimp traps we went to the usual spot where the bass  have been  holding for a while now. we boated 20 odd bass in the first half hour but they were only between 25 and just over 30cm so we started exploring between the islands to find some larger fish.

I was good to see Raymond down there taking out a couple of newbies to share the Dam

We had 60 fish on the counter by 9am when they lowed down and in the next 2 hours only picked up another 20 odd fish. We had only caught one yella  and with only a few shrimp left we stopped at the floats where we picked up 6 tilapia in quick succession . With no bait left we called it a day with a total of 81 bass,1 yella,one tandan and 6 black bream

Plenty of birdlife on the dam including several clutches of ducklings in among the lilys .

Lungfish also prevalent.

Reckon casing along the edges of the weed beds should produce a fish or 2 as we have some of our shrimp pots in 4 feet of water on the edge of the weeds and spotted fish racing out of th weeds into deeper water,

Hey Ray, what is that last fish? Is that a black bream? Surely it is not related to saltwater bream so does it have another name? It looks like it would be good eating. Have you tried them?

it is a tilapia and are good eating. you ar not allowed to keep them but i have eaten them overseas and also imported ones from local seafood shop.

Sounds like a pretty boring day to me I'm afraid @rayke1938. I mean, for goodness sake, you didn't even manage to catch 90 fish ........... .

Geez, they'd be rather critical of my outings .........

I don’t understand how that could be ‘boring’. If I ever went out I’d be over the moon with one bass!

@AUS-BNE-FISHO Make sure you ask ray lots of questions and make sure it’s a detailed report with plenty of pics as they always make the report much better.  Ray has a wealth of knowledge so don’t  be afraid to ask... if you don’t ask you will never know.
