Christmas Get Together

Is anyone keen to get together for a BBQ this year ?

I think we would need to have at least 10 participants to make it worthwhile.

Maybe we could make a half day of it fishing at NPD or Kurwongbah chasing bass or killing Tillies from the bank at the same time ?? Maybe Pine Rivers Park ?

I've suggested some northside spots as we have rarely held events there in the past, so I think our northerners are due.

I am definitely keen as long as it is not Tilapia fishing!  No success last time despite buying live worms (and you know how I hate spending money on bait lol).  The stupid things sat about 2cm away from my live worms, looking at them, for about 20 seconds, then turned around and chased other fish away.  This happened a number of times and and I only got a couple of tentative bites the whole 6 hours of a wasted Saturday!  Not keen to repeat the performance particularly as I can't even take them home for a feed!

All other options definitely keen.

Is Shorncliffe Pier the North Side of Brisbane?  Anywhere to gather/picnic there?  Too far?

Shornecliffe is northside too, so we'll throw it in the mix.

I am keen pending the date - will also aim to bring Liam and George. Shornecliffe Pier sounds good to me - playground nearby for the kids and plenty of shade, plus the option to fish for those that want to .

The missus and I might also be able to attend but it depends on the date, time and place so put us down as potentials! As kmcrosby78 said, Shorncliffe sounds quite good as it looks like there are eating areas and a park for any kiddies.

Likely will not be able to attend but if it’s at shorncliffe I’ll wave across the bay to whoever does attend.

 

@Kat - a small bit of peeled green prawn works just as well as worms and is 1/100th of the price...

Looking at Google Maps, there appears to be 4 or 5 shelters. I assume that means there will be barbecues there also ?? What time do you think someone would need to be there to secure a spot ?

Yes there is bbqs and many shelters. There’s some right near the playground that are usually very busy but there are several heading north along the foreshore that are less popular and more likely to be available.

28/11 or 4/12 could possibly work for me. 5/11 is Bathurst day so I’ll be in recliner with bourbon in hand.

Out of those dates, the 5th or 12th Dec can work for both my wife and myself but not sure if those dates suit others.

my advice would be to do it really early as that small carpark fills up very quickly

No mate, Southsiders can go over but they have to have all that stuff if they want to return.

Only date out of those that I can hopefully do is 12th but don't base the decision on me, as my brother said tonight that they are in Brisbane that weekend. If it is the 12th and I can make it I will though.

If everyone who's coming could post if they can make the 5th and how many will be coming, that'd help me out greatly.

5th December works for me - did I miss the posting on proposed start/finish times.  Pretty sure I can convince the BF to leave early and secure a spot while I fish

Will be me, Brett, Charlotte and Amber.  Presuming the kids don't get another birthday party invite in the meantime.
