Moogerah Dam

our schools got a camp/cabiny thing at moogerah dam and we went ther last week for a "writers camp"

Iwasnt allowed to bring fishing gear so was SERIOUSLY cut but anyway went kayaking one morning

First thing i noticed is that the dam is REALLY FULL.

Secondly as we were paddlign acrosss there was a bit of weedy stuff on the surface and near that there was a dead, slimy lungfish...

was just wondering whether it would have been the state of the water or just an incidental death??

anyway the funniest bit was wen the "guys" in my class all screamed like girls as teh paddled past thinking it was an eel:blush:

but last year wen we went it was only 2

so im jsut saying that the rain has but quite a bit of water into the dam

we used to go on a trek from the boat shed to the waters edge

and now its like a 2 minute walk

and whereas last year we walked 4 km to our campsite across the lake

u can actually paddle there

and the water is a lot cleaner

Possibly full in comparison to what it was. It was around 5% or something like that before the floods I think

If it was the only one you saw, it was probably just a normal death. But anythings possible

yeh we only saw the one

has any1 ever fished there in the gorge part??

cause we just paddled across there to go jumping into the water

and right at the edge it doprs off quite a bit

with a 4m drop u wuldnt hit the bottom...

Remember moo dam had a big fish kill recently! Its not too surprising to think a lungy croaked it as well.
