red claw in north pine

hey guys,

has anyone has any luck recently catching red claw in northpine? a few weeks back i set 3 traps with cat food and didnt catch one, that was in the boating area.

anyone have any majic bait that they use? or spots they wouldnt mind sharing?

Numbers have risen and fallen since we got back on the dam. This AM I didn't get a claw but I did get 2 / 42cm bass trolling and had 2 other hits and dropped another one. Used shallow running lures...red/black Berkley. :cheer:

Joel, I caught my bass today in the first reach [Koala Alley] and around the next corner.

Best bait for reds I've found over the past 12 years or so have been Yellow belly or bass frames. Others prefer fruit , etc. :cheer: Tight lines. Ian M

Do a bit of research on some of the other npd reports and also have a look at the prfma website for hints.

I prefer bass/yella/tandanus as first option then any saltwater fish frames and then tinned cat food. The tinned cat food lasts longer if you cant get to your pots every day.

Never had much success using rockmelon /watermelon/potato/mango/avacado in npd but they do work ok in some other dams.

I was told by one of the guys at BCF that red claw are veggos so he recommended rockmelon also.

Also heard they been getting some shrimp at Bullocky's, which they then use for live bait and apparently the bass go off!

cheapest dry dog food you can find, just make sure the bicuits are big enough, so they dont fall thru the mesh.

I am gunna become a redclaw my mouth is watering, first I'll have a feed of fish then I'll move on and have fresh fruit for desert and then some biscuits for supper
