I have tried the cooked peeled prawns (frozen ones bought from the supermarket) and have had some really good results with them flatties bream etc so I decided to try the frozen baby octupus  Well they are great :woohoo: we caught squire sweetlip those little rainbow fish a stone fish  grinner and it is tough as nails so if your heading to any place you would use squid etc for 7$ a kilo @ IGA lots of bait compared to 4.5 $ for a pissy little bag

PS we had great success by cuting 2 tenticales cut so they were still joined

hook them through the join then once more through the tenticales to leave a nice dangly tail on a exposed hook (bait holder hooks) and if u miss the strike dont check your bait most if not all will still be there

good luck

Good call.

Makes sense, i have had excellent results using fresh occie i capture myself at Straddy.

But being that i can never get them in huge number i usually end up keeping them to eat myself!!

But they are cheap as chips in the super market so good point.

I might give that a go myself next bay mission.

Woolies must have changed their policy used to mainly sell veitnam prawns.

Re frozen occies is their any risk associated with them ?

I know there is a potential problem using imported frozen fresh prawns.

Also is there any risk using imported cooked prawns?

Ray, Don't know about the occys but I would imagine it'd be the same sort of risk/s. I'm pretty sure the blurb from DPI&F (?) was only talking about raw prawns.
