Whats your favourite brand for heavy braid? why?

Hey guys, I am looking to buy some 50lb braid and am interested in hearing peoples opinions on different brands out there.

I would use it mostly for deep sea and sports fishing.

Well I am no expert, I've used Fireline, Spiderwire and a couple of no name brands. I prefer the spiderwire coz it comes in a respectable colour instead of looking like it came of a Pro Hart painting (nice deep dull green), is nice and soft, keeps its shape, does not dig into itself on the reel, knots easily, comes in 1500 yard spools from American sellers on Ebay for under $100 delivered to your door!

I'm with Feral I like the spiderwire for my heavier lines in the greyish colour and fireline in the flouro green for the finer lines.....

I like Spiderwire and Power Pro in moss green colour, if a fish sounds under the boat and the line comes in contact, Power Pro might be a bit more abrasion resistant.

A quality rod with rollers helps, not a cheap 30--60 with eyes and 10kg of drag.

The fish was landed with what was left of the rod. (65 PP)

Spiderwire or fireline in large spools from usa same as feral. Usually under $60 Au landed in australia. I buy on ebay make take up to 6 different auctions before you crack it. I set my limit and just watch and bid at last minute .

I wouldn't use any GSP lines(Fireline, Spider Wire, etc.) above 20lb. I would stick with Spectra braids like Platypus Super Braid and Bionic Braid. Heavy GSP lines slip easily under heavy pressure as they are only a single strand and are very smooth.

I like Tuf Line. Its really thin (for 50lb it is 0.31mm) and comes in green and yellow.

Is tuf line a GSP or a spectra braid?

Aren't rollers and braid meant to be a not so good combination. i.e. braid getting caught on the side of the roller?

Troy, Spiderwire is braid. I prefer the \"stealth\".

Ended up deciding on yellow tufline xp. Hope to test it out soon.
