on tuesday coming up ill be going to aussie fishing park ive been there couple times before but havnt really tried lures so do lipless crank bait work on barra there? and any other tips for there?

my friend got a barra on a sp but i mainly wonderin bout hard bodies and kevin if u go there u should put some bait on a rod and just let it sit in big boys i caught a 80cm 1 doing that took me right to otherside of pond

then how much does it cost to fish there with lures? i don't think it will be as hard to catch a fish in a pond than in a dam.

Umm. The price have gone up a little bit to accomadate for extra expenses the park now has to pay. You can't pay for a 1/2 day now, you have to pay for a full day and fish for aslong as you want. Its somewhere around $50 I think. could be a bit more.

yeh they fight good and its not showing me the first cople posts my big one i got went from one side of pond to other on 15lb line and thats heavy line to use lol in the creek i use 4 or 6lb

For lures there, you really need to fish light because the Barra see lures every day. They've smartened up a good bit. You need to fish light leaders with a small bit tippet(thanks troy) with smallish suspending lures. You need to fish them slow aswell. This is the advice that I always get from the owners as I have only got 3 barra on lures there.I was using 2lb braid - 6lb leader and sx40's back during my sx craze days.

how deep generally is there? some worm presentation should be my choice if nothing else works. i cannot go too light as my baitcasting skill won't allow me to.

just use spin heaps and heaps of fun on light line if u use pellets chuck a group out then wait for one to take it then quickly cast pellet on yor hook over it and they come up and eat it

Yeah Kev thats not the right place. 20lb fluro is still really heavy ! I'd hate to know what you call heavy if thats light. try around 6lb leader

Btw, while using pellets I was using 3lb leader with about 10cm of 10lb bite tippet and didn't lose one fish on it. You just have to be patient dude

ok, i think i will have to get a spool of 4lb braid and some 6lb flurocarbon.

then the only problem is line digging....

kevin youll get heaps on 6lb and under and in big boys pond i just leave a rod out with 15lb line white bait for bait last march i loast 2 big ones and landed 1 big one other 2 spat hook and in creek i floated white bait down right at end of day smashed every time

then what about 23lb braid ( same diameter with a 6lb mono) and a 2meter 6lb flurocarbon leader? i can fish light but line digging problem won;t allow me to put too thin a line on.

i have just sold all my spinning outfits and spend all my spare money on a recent purchase.

i might get a spinning outfit when i finish all my purchase of high-end casting rods and reels. but that will simply take ages.

i love using baitcasters for the extra leverage and.... to be like a proB)

plenty of pro's use spin gear aswell as baitcasting gear it just about using the best equipment for the job at hand

well, i have to admit i hate spinning gear for the line twist problem. and i found spinning reels so hard to maintain and all of them have backplays in the handle.

the backplay all comes down to having a good quality reel once you start to use plastics a good light spin outfit is a must

donno why, i always have more or less twist on my line when using spinning gear and i can never predict or control when they'll happen and how serious they can be.

as well, i rub the skin of my hand and sometimes hurt my hand when holding the rod too tight and pressure the reel against my fingers too tight.

no luck for me with spinning reels.

but i will give good reels and rods a try before i finally give up.

thanks plastic man. i usually use some sort of rigs if i have to use plastics. drop-shotting works well for me in NPD, i got 3 bass and my mate got a yella dropshotting in the dam.

still, spinning's a must for bream fishing i think, these rigs never work for me when fishing for bream.

Also, if you spool the line on the wrong way onto a spinning reel, you get alot of line twist. You should have it coming off the spool in the opposite direction that the rotor spins.

Kev man, I havn't had one line twist since I've had my sol, not one, I had like 2 or 3 on my symetre before that but nothing major.

I've only been to the park 3 times so my Biggest is only 88cm.

Kevin - Except for the self seating reels, (pull the trigger and they spin around and open bail arm) I have not seen a spinning reel without instant antireverse in years!

Also never had a line twist problem ever, as long as you put the line on correctly.

hey guys im heading up to bli bli this sunday with mates i havent been there before but a guy from bcf told me to stay away from hbs and try live bait and plastics the 3inch smelt minnow and 5inch jerk baits what do you guys think?? also im taking two rods there ones a 2-4kg with a 2500 reel and 6lb braid with 6lb leader will this be strong enough the other combo is a baitcaster with 30lb braid and a 6-10kg stick am i on the right track
