What Is The Best Place To Fish In Brisbane For A 9 Year Old

Hi logo,

It depends on where you live, the hard part for a nine year old would be getting to fishy spots. If your parents are willing to drive you to places like Sandgate they are lots of options for land based fishing. You can walk for miles over there throwing lures out for flathead.

I know when I was nine I'd ride my bike down to the local creek and chase yellowbelly and catfish with my mates.

If you have any freshwater creeks or lakes close by you could chase bass or even tilapia using bait.

It depends on what sort of fishing you want to do and what type of gear you have.

I wouldn't mind visiting the same sort of area in these holidays with the kids too.

I'm using Google Maps to try to locate an area.  (I'm in Toowoomba).  What's below the Bullocky's Rest area?  Is it all mud flats ?  Can one use a kayak in the area safely?  Are there any bridges or rocky breakwaters or something to scramble across?

I would prefer saltwater fish.

A jetty or three would be good ...

Thanks guys,

Just did a recce of Shorncliffe pier and the Tinci Tamba wetland boardwalk area yesterday in the guise of teaching my son how to drive ...

A bit blowy at Shorncliffe which is expected.  No-one catching anything.  Nice day out though.

The Sandgate area is a bit upmarket eh !  Not too shabby living down there.

Cheers,

Steve
