Daz and I headed off at about 4am to chase some surface action in the spots out of the wind. Tide was way low, baromoter was dropping and cloud cover was very grey.

We selected to troll a pre rigged rapala X rap which has taken a few fish in the samme spot of previous visits. Selecting the line pasta point and along a jetty big Chilly decalres Jack and looksie [img size=500]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/PB020074_AFO.jpg

Then we went to casting surface lures down a little further in the waterway. There was the ocasional surface bust up but only to frastrate us, I did manage a hook up on a black and gold popper but dropped the bugger so back to trolling and without too much time passing scored this good size tarpon on a clear repala suspending minow. Then back to the ramp he got another from under a boat.

All in all a great 4-5 hours fishing even if we had to change from plan A to plan B to plan C and back to plan A.1.

I suppose if I learnt anything it would that when the transiant preditors don't show up go fishing for the residents. [img size=500]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/PB020086_AFO.jpg

Thanks for the friendly comments guys, it was a great day.

A few folks have sent me PM about where to get the jacks and where were we. I can say that it's not so much where but when and how. No I'm not being a smart ass, down this end of the coast the Jacks appear to be thick this year. I have heard many reports from southern locals.

The best thing I could suggest is late night or early morning trolling along any rock retaining wall in the Coomera & Nerang rivers with a nice repala lure. Gotta go I'll finish this later.

Dean - you know what - that' sexactly whaty I said to Daz. You gotta love it when a plan comes together, even when it's plan A B C or Ab AC or Ad. It was a well timed plan with a specific purpose and we kicked it.:woohoo:

can't wait for the next one.;)
