queensland Maroon dam Saturday morning

Headed to Maroon yesterday morning a little apprehensive as heard there were fish kills and algal blooms. Got there around six in the morning and the ski lice were already going around in circles.

Fished the shadows around the bottle brushes for not a hit it was then decided trolling was the best option as the sun was well and truly risen.

One of the hardest days I've ever had at Maroon but I managed to land four ranging from ambitious little guys not much bigger than the lure to 35 cm being the biggest landed right next to the ramp as I was retrieving my halco crazy deep so we could pack up.

Water is very green pigment from the algae and up near the timber is full of weed.

Hi Aaron,

Good fish and great spot. How low was the water?

Only fished Maroon once, but the wife and I cleaned up on Bass and a big Yella. Water was real low though, about 19%. Fished near the northside boat ramp.

Well done mate, anything from the dams is a bonus at the moment with them being so hot and cold

Water is now at 62%, I first fished it when it was at its lowest around 14% had to launch off the bank, its nice to launch at the ramp now:)

good one Aaron, maroon is very hit and miss, the sunken trees opposite the public ramp are always worth a try
