'ICE'

For those who like me Didn't know

If you put your emergency contact's phone number in your mobile's address book under the heading

'ICE'

It shows on the top of your phone book list,

and All emergency services will check to see if you have it listed (given you have your mobile on or near you)

ICE = In Case of Emergency

and they will call your emergency contact if needed

Thought it was worth sharing

Yeah someone told me that at work the other day, I said why? If the ambo's are looking in my pockets I'm in enough trouble already without them getting the missus there to give me an earful as well!

Hi Gazza. It's a good idea, but I don't think 'ICE' will be at the top of most peoples address book though (I have heaps of contacts A - H)

Have you actually tried it? Just for fun I gave it a crack in my Samsung A701. Turns out I can only use a handful of symbols in naming address contacts, and inconveniently not apostrophes. Fair enough I thought, and used brackets instead. Second fail, contacts starting with symbols in my address book end up at the bottom of the address book!

If I get hit by a bus on the way to work tomorrow, I hope the paramedics try to keep me alive instead of going through my phone!

BTW - I don't think its a bad idea, I just can't see it working...

Not necessarily! I think the intent of the idea is good, I just don't think it is feasible to use in practise.

I can say that its has worked before for 1 young fella I found passed out on a bench. I had to scroll through his contacts till I got to the I's.

Somehow I dont think he will have his Dads number saved as ICE any longer though as it got him help, but the next day it might have caused some hurt!!

i have a mate who is an ambo and often has to go through phones to find numbers and reckons 9 times outa 10 H for home usually works best
