WTF - ID experts please

They are an awesome fish for divers etc etc often eating out of the hand and so forth.

I saw one playing dead at Wello on Saturday. It was just floating on the surface but when I got closer it swam away. Pretty cool to see.

Pretty sure these guys were popping up to the surface for fun when I was over fishing some wrecks at Moreton one morning. Pretty awesome fish.

I have a couple of small ones in my reef aquarium.. Beautiful fish.

Love their shape. They are very aggreessive at that size and hunt in packs.

shure it was a bat fish? lying on the surface is a habit of the trippletail and they look simillar.

I'm not 100% sure (never heard of a tripletail). It was roundish in shape, approx dinner plate size.

Batties can grow to gargantuan proprtions and are the scurge of ocean yachties as they have a habit of wrapping themselves around keels and/or ripping keels clean off ! they are HUGE.
