Outboard not charghing.

I have a 97 mariner 25hp on my tinny and its not charghing the battery,any ideas why,what can i check,will it be exspensive to repair.

Bri, is it supposed to charge? not all motors have charging circuits.

Even when they do it is usually pretty low charge rate, and not adequate to keep a battery charged unless you are traveling for a fair while. Its usually a safe bet to put your battery on charge after a trip.

Hi ,is the battery isolated when you are not useing your boat. could be that it is charging but then draining when sitting around between trips.

Yes it has all the electrics to charge,but the other day we tested the circuit with a multimeter whilst the engine was running and no charge was going to the battery from the engine.
