went out to wivenhoe on sunday with bommie and bommiejnr to try out bommie jnr new fishfinder outgot there about 2.30pm after hookin up the sounder to jnrs kayak paddled out to the old river channel bommie jnrs sounder went crazey fish every where bommie was first on with a nice bass 48cm on adeep diving purple boomerang while jnr was paddling around finding fish on his new toy for us then i was next on a49cm bass on a crankbait my pb and my first for bigw afew more hits but time ran out left around 5.00 jnr had more fun finding fish than cathing them,

nice fish big al! Curious does the boating permit apply to canoes / kayaks? And what's with bass's facination with purple lures lol. Whether spinners or HBs, they seem to love purple lol.

werewolf, you only need a permit for a boat that is on a reg. boat trailer, so if you were to chuck a small tinny etc. on a box trailer you would not need a permit, yeh and the bass love purple,

Thanks heaps Al. I did some googling and the best I could come up with was the need for a permit for a watercraft on the registered trailer. I didn't realise they meant boat trailer. Thanks againB)

there were some big schools of fish showing on the sounder where we were in 20m of water

most of them mate is cattys we seen them all day there is crap loads out there

yeh I found if you just forget about schools of small to medium size fish showing on the sounder which are usually the forkies and concentrate on the large fish showing up they will usually be bass or yellas
