Scarbough Reef

When we went out to wello reefs we would get snagged regularly bottom bashing with a standard rig. Thanks to either elli or cow's advice (forgot which one)the paternoster rig works great, the gf didnt get snagged once on sat or sunday so for rigs i recommend that one.

Ps if you use ball sinkers i was rushed and tied a half blood cos i couldnt study to see what knots goes on a ball and we lost 2 cos turns out it just undoes itself so if in doubt....tie 3 granny knots it works a treat.

When I use the paternoster rig I put a loop in the end of the rig, then feed some lighter line through the sinker to make another loop. Then with the loop on the pat rig pass it through the loop on the sinker then around it...

Does that make sense??

Then if the pat gets snagged it breaks the lighter loop on the sinker saving the pat rig....:)

I use a Uni-knot to tie the sinker on. Never comes undone. This is what a Paternoster rig looks like. To tie the loops that attach to the hook, I use a Surgeons loop: http://www.steelheader.net/knots/surgeons_loop.htm [img size=247]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/Paternoster_rig.gif

I usually only use one hook on the rig, although legally (in QLD), you are allowed up to 6.
