Fish Kill at Lake Somerset

SEQWater staff today confirmed that there has been a serious fish kill of bass & tilapia in Lake somerset.

In area known as Brad's Bank & further north numbers of bass & tilpia have been removed with sampled taken for autopsy.

The SEQWater ranger stated that the water temps this week have been lower than any on record for this lake; 13.5 degrees.

Without further evidence at hand I would suspect the weather/temperature is the problem. Possibly the cold water & a roll over combination.

It is asked if anyone sees dead fish at Lake Somerset can you please collect these fish & put them in the fish bins located at all entry points.

I would think that the stocking group would be extremely unlikely to support any calls for the banning of bass stocking in this lake. However they will be happy to see tilapia die off.
