There are some great prizes on offer for this comp. Check out www.sportstuition.com.au for all the details. It's the first comp at Maroon for several years, so we are hoping to make it successful. If everyone can spread the word, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Because this is the first year, I am not sure how many people it will attract. The capacity will be determined by the campground space. Hoping to get lots of families too. Tom, I think the kayak idea is not a bad one...quick to get on & off the water. Great to see registrations already from AFO members. There has just been another prize added to the senior category and a key speaker confirmed. Some companies have verbally committed to prizes, but I haven't posted until it is received, so the prize list will continue to grow. Keep an eye on the Sports Tuition site for updates. It's shaping up really well, thanks for spreading the word!

There is a new lakeside camping ground at the front of the campsite at the moment. We are hoping to have that decision by SEQWater overturned asap. It is bureaucracy gone made to think that people who camp down there could drown. The reasoning was that because Maroon Dam doesn't have a spillway, technically the water could rise 10.7m vertically. We have two key points in our argument. 1. For that phenomenon to occur, no one is going to be camping anyway. 2. The safety exit is back up the hill. It's not hard. We are hoping to put together a management plan for that area. Let's hope it happens quickly, however, the other waterfront area is not too bad. It's actually flatter than the other end as well.

So no matter what we will still be able to camp down near the water?

The Senior Lucky Door Prize just got a little bit better. A 30hp Suzuki outboard has been added. So now we have the full boat, motor, trailer, electric and sounder package. Now that's a nice prize! Special thanks to Bluefin, Dunbier, Suzuki, Minn Kota & Humminbird for making it happen.

More prizes are still coming too! It's only going to get bigger.

You can see the current prize list at www.sportstuition.com.au

  • 1 month later...

Hi Rayke, I am after some advice on what type of lures to use at the lake as I heard that you are the 'freshwater guru' and from your posts, you are the king of bass. I have never fished in freshwater before except a few times learning how to fly fish. Do you need to be in a boat - if so I will rent one of the tinnies available at the site. Thanks in advance for your help.

Registered.

Looks like a fun weekend and some really fantastic prizes.

Cheers

Ray
