Reeltackle Borumba Bash for Mercy Hospital Palliative Care

Reeltackle and I would like to welcome Mossops Bait and Tackle on board as a supporter of the event. Mossops Bait and Tackle is a supplier of quality fresh, frozen, salted, brined and live bait, a great range of tackle and staffed by experienced anglers. They still have customers come in and tell them of their first rod and alvey reel purchase from Mossops. Mossops enjoy giving first time anglers great advice on a rod and reel combo to get them started, and all the staff get just as much of a thrill in giving advice to catch a fish as catching one themselves. From estuary, blue water, impoundment, fresh and salt water, Mossops have the right advice and tackle to help all anglers catch there favourite fish.

I had a great chat chat to Peter the other day about how the fishing is going. He knows his stuff and I am very keen to try out the American leader that he gets in. It sounds like awesome stuff. They are in a great position too for anyone fishing the southside.

Check out their website at http://mossopsfishing.com.au/ or Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mossopsbaitandtackle

Another big name sponsor in Mossops you fellas have done well organising this, it should generate plenty of interest

Bring on a top weekend

It has been absolutely amazing Mark.

Greg from Double Island Point Fishing Charters just called and has offered sponsorship as well for the charity event but I will work out the details tonight when he calls me again.

He was offshore fishing and the phone was breaking up but I could hear his customers catching fish in the background and asking what they were and if they were legal.

Sounded like they were onto a good patch of fish so he had to go, lol

We spoke to a few of the locals up there today Mark.

There is apparently a large concentration of Bass schooled up in the main basin and another large school on the left side of the junction.

They also said Toga are being caught right throughout the lake and good yellas along some of the rock walls.

No one mentioned the redclaw at all so they may be a bit quite atm.

The Silvers have been very quite as well lately.

Pretty awesome having those local businesses on board. If I make it up I know where I'll be stopping for provisions.

Check out the local butcher Angus.

I usually grab my meat off him when I go up there as it's always very tender and tasty.

There's something about fresh meat from country butcher shops when they raise and slaughter their own beasts

I had a surprise package arrive this morning with $200 worth of awesome lures from Reidy's Lures.

Thank you Colin and Karen Burdon for your fantastic donation and support for the ReelTackle Borumba Bash.

I think most fishermen at some stage in their life have used a Reidy's Lure, especially Barra fishermen or anyone fishing up north.

The Reidy's B52 would be one of my all time favorites and my first go to lure for big Barra.

Check out their fantastic range and help support a terrific Aussie company.

Makka Lures

This company supports people with a dissability so every Makka lure or paravane purchased helps support and employ the disabled.

IMPACT has a variety of social enterprises which help us generate income. Our social enterprises are run like businesses with the aim of using any surplus funds generated to reinvest in the social services we deliver to the most vulnerable members of our community.

Our social enterprises take many forms like production of these Makka Lure products you are researching, to production of exotic preserves, car detailing and commercial cleaning and maintenance activities.

These businesses are managed and run by permanent staff with professional expertise in the business they manage. The businesses also provide employment opportunities for the people IMPACT supports who may benefit from working in a supported work environment, or who may need to develop work skills and confidence before transitioning to work in the local labour market.

Social enterprises prove that social and environmental responsibility can be combined with financial success. They foster our “can-do†attitude and are able to help people who are having difficulty finding and sustaining meaningful employment. At the same time our social enterprise raises the standards for ethical business and corporate social responsibility.

Makka Lures are manufactured and packaged by people with a disability who would otherwise not be able to sustain work in the open labour market. Makka Lure workers are proud of the quality of the product they produce and are committed to the highest standard of workmanship.

I can't make it to the bash which is a shame cos Borumba is one of my favourite places in the world. :(

Good on you lance for getting all the sponsors, I really hope you can raise some funds so that other families can benefit from the services you received in your time of need.

I made a small donation through your Reel Tackle website Lance, it's not much but I wanted to support you in this endeavour seeing as you've put so much into the AFO community in the past.

Good luck and I hope you guys have a blast up there!

Don't forget guys that the ReelTackle Borumba Bash is on this weekend.

Sadly the lake is still closed but we are going ahead with the event as it is primarily are charity fund raising event and social gathering.

As a precautionary measure, we are removing the fishing boundaries so all contestants can now fish anywhere including the other lakes in the region as well as the famous Mary River.

There has been a steady release of water from Borumba Dam for quite a while now and the local creeks are flowing at a superb level for fishing with crystal clear waters.

2 guys staying in the Borumba Deer Park landed 24 beautiful Bass several mornings ago from Yabba Creek. They have also been catching a lot of nice Yellowbelly.

The Mary River has been fishing exceptionally well, especially downstream of where Yabba Creek runs into it due to the water flowing from Borumba Dam.

Please remember that Mary River Cod are a totally protected species and they cannot be targeted what so ever.

There is a lot of cod being caught in the area at present so if you do manage to hook one, please treat them with the utmost of care by not removing them from the water, especially just to get a photograph.

They are not an eligible species in the competition.

This is going to a massive social event and even with the lake currently closed, we hope you can all still make it up for the weekend.

Don't forget we have our huge roast dinner on Saturday night for $10 a head.

This will be an awesome meal with hot roast meats and fresh salads closely followed by a series of live auctions that we will be conducting to raise some much needed funds for the charity event.

Bring plenty of cash as we have some incredible prizes up for grabs and lots of them.

There is no EFTPOS machines there but we may be able to process credit cards (Visa and Mastercards only) onsite if we have decent phone service. We will know more on this once we get up there.

If you have any questions, you can call me personally on 0423235291 or email us at borumbabash@hotmail.com and we will do our best to help you out.

Remember we have an online raffle going which will be drawn at Sunday's presentation.

This raffle is open to anyone across Australia and we will send your prizes to you if you are a lucky winner.

Tickets can be purchased from the main page of the event website at www.borumbabash.org.

There is also an option for anyone who would like to just make a donation to the charity event.

Thanks everyone for the amazing support we have received for this event and hopefully we will see many of you up there over the weekend.

So Lance, reading that - you have no issue if Borumba is still closed if we fish Macdonald or even Borambah?

You guys are welcome to fish where ever you want.

Weigh in times, species lists and the events time table ect still stand but fishing wise go any where you want.

That will allow everyone to spread out over the weekend.
