Landbased Spots

A few guys have gotten them during the day fishing deep. No matter what the "experts" say, threadies will feed on the surface at night, even in winter.

Fish at least 60lb leader with minimum 20lb mainline. A heavy rod and reel with at least 15lb or drag. You can land them on less but if you want them to swim away fish that line class and they should be fine.

Good luck.

Exactly right. We only found our spots by spending many long cold nights on the riverbank covered in mud and sand flies searching for that pot of gold. It's out there, people just need to put in some effort and find it:cheer: If we told everyone it would ultimately ruin everyone's fun and sense of achievement.

Under fishermans island bridge is also another good spot to soak a bait, Current runs very fast throught there so use big lead, some ripper fish including large mangrove jack, mulloway, huge bream, sweetlip, GT's, big cod ect have been all caught under there. Also there is a nice sandbank close to there wich holds a few flattys. But yeh, theres billions of good spots, and heaps of spots that get very rarely fished.

Hey Pauly, Hows Franco?

Bretts wharf is good at night. Livies are my favourite, herring or prawns. These can be cast netted on site. One important thing to remember about Bretts is the current is a massive pain. Heavier lead than looks reasonable is often needed. However, dont worry. Once a 1m + threaddy takes the bait the lead weight becomes obsolete.

For info on lures best talking to Kev and Dan at the moment. But other members have had success with Jackal Masks and Jackal Trans Ams in the lower reaches.

Cheers.

Angus
