AFO Noosa Deep sea charter

Feral

Recommended Posts

Well rolled up a little after 7, and most everyone was already there. A quick head count and we headed out. Boat 2 stole a march on us and headed out first.

It was slow going through the river and over the bar, lots of shallow water at the bar, and trees everywhere in the water.

Took about an hour to get to the reefs, Most of boat one was using their own gear, myself and a couple of others were using the supplied alveys and Wilson rods.

I took up position next to Booty, then watched him proceed to pull in fish after fish while I working out the gear, it was real hard to feel the bites with a 30 kilo rod and mono line, but eventually I did.

I ended up with three keepers, (2 Pearl Perch and a Tusk fish, biggest Pearl went 53cm, Tusk fish 37cm) and swag of undersize fish tossed back. Caught all sorts of fish I have never caught before, including red emperor a few types of cod I have never seen before, slimy's, yakkas', and few of the old favourites like squire!

I am not sure of what other people caught, I was a bit crook, dunno if it was seasickness or the bl@@dy sea sickness tablets I took before hand, felt like I had been on an all night bender, dehydrated, head ache, wanted to go to sleep all the time. Did not feel queasy or like having a \"ralph\" though, so I figure I will blame the sea sickness tablets!

However Angus was casually waiting at the dock for us with his stonker Snapper, and there were quite a few fish in the esky when we hit the dock.Angus said boat 2 scored some nice fish, so waiting to hear all about it!

Well what a great time we had, Jeff Glenda and I had A good run up from Ippy on Friday afternoon. Went and checked out the marinia and the 2 boats we were taking out in the morning. Looked for a BBQ close by but to no avail. So off to the Villa Noosa to check in .

Met up with Gazza, Booty, Faulked & Brian D., after a few “Quiet†drinks and a few Tall Tales we all had dinner and was joined by Angus, Webby and the Gorrie clan. A few more ales and tales ,then off to catch some ZZZZs.and dream of tomorrows catch..

Met up with everyone at 7.00am at the marinia , we loaded up and headed for sea. The Bar crossing went without a problem,It was worth the money just for that ride.

Made it to the reef in quick time and droped the pick in 50mts .Some small Squire were caught along with Yakkers andsmall Pearlies. We had a shift and this is where Angus showed us up with a Stonker Snapper. A lot of fish were caught over the course of the day, although most were of the “just under varirityâ€Â.Glenda landed a couple of Pearlies and Squire ,Good fun from 50mts but no keepers. I managed 3 Maroi Cod just under the 45cms plus pearlies and Squire. No keepers so its off to the “Fish Market†tomorrow.

We arrived back in the marinia at 12.30 and headed down to the park for a BBQ lunch and tell all about the one that got away.

I would like to thank you all for coming and making the day most enjoyable.

All in All a very good night Fri and a terrific day out on the water today.

THE RESULTS.

Boat #1

First Fish -- BUD with a Pearl Perch

Most Fish---- Feral with 2 Pearlies & 1 Tusk fish

Biggest Fish- Feral Pearl Perch

Boat #2

First Fish--- Faulked Squire.

Most Fish-- Mr Gorrie 2 Tusk fish

BIGGEST FISH -- Angus “Stonker SNAPPERâ€Â

Congrats to All.

It was all in fun and you are “all winners†in my book on both Boats.

Laurie.

Yep Pearly was very nice, tusk fish was good, but not as nice as the pearly.

River was Brown as. Lots of sunken boats, including a houseboat, still under water. All the southern side eaten away, a lot of walking paths collapsed into the river, but worts of all, the nudie beach on the river itself is gone!

Yep. Could have done with more catches for everyone, but the trip was awesome. Good to put some faces to names and have a good time. Yep Ferals report is pretty much what hapopened. I can add a couple of fish to my \"caught\" list too now.

Cheers Loz for organising the trip and keeping everyone up to date with the time and venue changes, to Booty for helping me figure out where I was supposed to be :D and Angus and troops for organising the lunch.

A fun day out on the water ,started off well. the weather gods had smiled on the AFO assembly, a few last minute brags and boasts and we were on our way ,a cruise down the brown flood worn river / obsticle course over the bar and in to the deep stuff it was a fun ride out .even spotted a couple of whales splashing about the fishing was abit hit and miss but fun and the BBQ to end the day was perfect , thanks to every one who took part and the boat operators :)on the subject of winners after much discussion and threat of loss of karma it was decided AFO was the overall winner thanks loz for all your efforts :) but that stonker was fish of the day :P

How happy is this guy (the fish not so happy). Well done Angus.

Great photo wheels.

To summarise my thoughts I say Gezz I had a great time, everyone on the winning boat (boat 1) worked well together. Bud got the good spot for the first legal size pearly, then Booty kicked in with a couple of nice size moses pearch before the Feralstar came up with 2 Pealies and a tusk fish. I also think Roscoe son scored a few too. Then I gave up my good spot so Bud could catch another nice pearly. We did OK - not great but OK. Most of all I enjoyed the cruise.

After meeting Henry and Wheeels again my guess is these guys would make great deckies if anyone has a spot. You guys are easy to fish with and they know what they are doing. Bonus is Do$yle (henry) will cook your catch for you.;) ;)

Karma to you Lozzel for organising the trip, I know it takes a fare effort so thanks again.

Well funny you asked that Angus, Started looking rround the net last night ,but was too tired .

When I find another boat that can take 20 or so , I'll make some arrangements.

Stay Tuned , Would be good to get everyone on 1 boat, more fun etc.

Prob early next year or early winter, March maybe. After my NZ trip.

Not much more I can add into this thread really in terms of fishing information.

So, a big thanks to Laurie for organising the event, second would have to be thanks to Gazza for the donation that paid for the BBQ, to Brian D for the toasted sangers in the morning (just what was needed) and to all the guys on boat 1 for making the trip what it was.

Ellicat... You will never make a good Cop with an enterance like that!

I am keen for another charter anywhere anytime.

Awesome trip, thanks Loz. I had a Brian moment:blush: trying to find the BBQ drove straight past did not see anyone and went and grabbed something to eat in Noosa, drove back up Gympie terrace and see u all leaving. Also went and checked out Lake Macdonald that arvo and saw a couple of kids catching some bass below the dam wall one would have nearly cracked 50 cm, dam was a bit dirty for a lure flick but I will definitely head up there with the boat one day soon. Great to meet some new faces and catch up with some old ones:laugh:

Great day on the water fellas.

Thanks to Lozzel for the organising.

Sorry to have missed the socialising side of things but the later start and finish times cut it too short for Reelchippy's prior commitment. A truck rollover saw us take over 4 hours to get there Saturday too:angry: so missed the dinner.

Also, sorry for putting the Villa Noosa name out there for the accommodation. It was like being a part of a riot at Long bay jail:blink:

Great fish Angus. I'd like to have seen Jayson's (Faulked's) fish that busted him off at the end too - unlucky mate:pinch:

I still can't understand why boat 1 got the full day charter and we only got the half day though:whistle:

Booty, I needed to keep it a little subdued in case your towel fell off:woohoo:

I did really miss not being able to cuff Brian though:laugh:

I was going to start a new thread for this as it's more of a Fish ID question...but on the way out to the bar I did a bit of trolling when no-one was looking.

I had a good hit and managed to pull in the fish in the photo. Any ideas what it could be ? [img size=292]http://www.australianfishing.com.au/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/Brian_Cobia.JPG

Great day guys..Thanks for your spot Brian.Sorry about skipping the BBQ, hope you enjoyed my snags. Thanks Lozzel for the day and you can sure count me in anytime for another charter. Bloody great day except for all the moving and minimal fishing. But can't complain it was better than sitting at home dreaming of fishing. Cheers and look forward to the next one.

That is the worst photo shop effort I think I have ever seen!
