I'm in, BUT before I fully commit I would like to know what type of fishing is planed? As in 22 guys are'nt gunna be trying to trawl for Tuna or Marlin

Are we going for reef style fishing?

It may seem like a silly question but I've never been on a charter or even off shore fishing before:blush:

It is a good point you raise Chubbstar.. I have been on a 20 person charter off shore and.. if you not on your game..TANGLES.... They usually supply heavy gear to prevent extend battles.. winch them up boys... if you get a long battle that runs... all 20 lines usually become 1 big braided line.

Yes it would be bottom bashing on a reef for sure....

Not a silly question chubbs, it's a good Question! Before I answer I would like to say this is a typical example why the site is so good. If you haven't done it you can bet you gonads someone else has.GO Team AFO.:)

Mate the charter will start with a good run out to the 1st reef. Depending on the current we should be drift fishing or at anchor in about 60-80 metres. Big snapper leads and everyone dropping at the same time avoids tangles. The skipper should scout the reef for bait balls, when found usualy the deckie and 1st mate will jig while we bottom bash.

Then we move reefs a couple of times and repeat. When it comes time to troll the boat trolls with outriggers on each side and a couple of each courner. Depending on the boat maybe 1 out the middle. THese are not my line or yours -the boat is trolling!. When something hits you gotta grab the nearest rod and wind the bugger in while I deal with the running Marlin or Wahoo. If your lucky we get a double hook up and the lines don't cross.

A good skipper trolls between reefs, finds fish and bait balls, drift fishers and holds position with the motors.

THere are some variations on this but I think you get the idea.

Any questions?

As said earlier i'm in, mick (forum occasional) is keen and I've got another definite if I can add another +1?

So that'd be 3 spots for us, I can pay deposit for all three as soon as someone puts their hand up to be the ringleader.

Lee - You just have to be careful if your standing shoulder to shoulder, lighter gear can lead to tangles as the lighter gear sinks and drifts differently. When your in 50m of water, it does not take much of a variation when the fishing rods are 1m apart!

Last trip even with all of us being experienced fisho's, there was some almighty tangles (not many thank goodness)
