Goondiwindi Carp Cull

Feral

Recommended Posts

I've mentioned a place called Kurrumbul Dumaresq Homestead before that fronts 7KM of the Dumaresq. It's roughly smack in the middle of the map provided on the carp cull site (above). It has both camping and the homestead where you can stay. The \"homestead\" is actually the old Goondi hospital that was moved there and has heaps of room. I imagine you'd have to book early though.

There's heaps of places to camp in that stretch from Yelarbon to Goondi.

I wouldn't recommend staying at BoggaBilla though (except for mackmauler:P )

  • 1 month later...

Well I had to go check on our newest recruit, he has been out watching over some trials on the Gundi - Moonie highway for the last 4 weeks.

Used the chance to have a quick look around Goodiwindi with a view to sussing out the facilites for the carp cull. Was so fished out after the BRC, I did not even take a rod with me. Which was disapointing because the word was in the pub a young fella had got two 60lb cod under the bridge in town sunday evening!

The river looked good and fishy, the boat ramp fantastic. 2 big lanes, possibly 3 small lanes, concrete, well angled, right in town.

Photos of ramp and river, not the greatest, from my mobile phone.

Anglers can only register in either a team or as an individual, and fish will only be able to be measured in one category.

The team prizes will be awarded on the basis of total length (to nearest cm) of carp caught, based on fork length measurement. Carp must be 10cm or longer to be eligible, any Carp measured under this length will be ineligible. In the event of a tie the winner shall be determined by lot.

Catch and Release (Non target species of Yellowbelly and Murray Cod) will be based on length. All fish in this section must be presented to the marshals on the river in healthy condition and must be released by the marshals.

Invasive Animals CRC will be tagging fish in the leadup to the event. Keep an eye on the website as details of where tagging has taken place will be posted closer to the event. When registering you will also receive a map of where fish have been tagged, and there have been more than 200 carp tagged so the chances of catching one are high.
